Frequently Asked Questions
At Crestpoint Psych Services, we understand that starting therapy or seeking an evaluation can bring up many questions. Below are some of the most common questions we receive about our services, process, and approach.
What services do you provide?
We offer a full spectrum of mental health services, including individual therapy for adults, specialized trauma interventions such as EMDR, and comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments. Our services are tailored to support those managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, learning difficulties, relational issues, and more. We also provide consultations and work with first responders, veterans, and individuals navigating complex diagnostic needs.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. All therapy and consultation services are available via secure telehealth platforms. This allows clients to access care conveniently from the comfort of their own homes while maintaining confidentiality and quality of service.
What kinds of assessments do you perform?
We conduct psychological, neuropsychological, academic, adaptive functioning, and learning disorder evaluations. These assessments are designed to identify cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or educational concerns and provide clear diagnostic guidance and individualized treatment recommendations.
How do I know if I need an assessment or therapy?
If you're experiencing persistent struggles with memory, focus, emotions, learning, or behavior—and you're unsure of the root cause—an assessment can provide answers. If you're already aware of your challenges and are seeking coping strategies, healing, or personal growth, therapy may be the right next step. We’re happy to guide you in deciding which service is most appropriate.
What is EMDR, and is it right for me?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized therapy that helps individuals process and resolve distressing memories and trauma. It’s particularly effective for PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, and grief. We offer EMDR for clients who may feel “stuck” despite previous therapy or who have experienced distressing life events.
Do you accept insurance?
Crestpoint Psych Services operates as a private-pay practice, but we are happy to provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to determine what services may be reimbursable.
How do I schedule a session or assessment?
You can reach out through our contact form, call us directly, or email us to inquire about availability. We’ll schedule a brief consultation to determine your needs and match you with the right service or clinician.
What can I expect during the first session?
Your first therapy appointment is focused on getting to know you—your concerns, your goals, and your history. Whether you’re attending a therapy session or beginning an assessment, we’ll ensure the space feels safe, structured, and personalized to you.
Whom do you work with?
We primarily serve adults, but also provide assessment services for teenagers. We also specialize in working with first responders, veterans, trauma survivors, neurodivergent individuals, and those navigating life transitions or high-stress professions.
How long are therapy sessions, and how often do I attend?
Most individual therapy sessions are 1 hour long. Frequency depends on your needs and treatment goals, but many clients attend weekly. We collaborate with you to create a schedule that supports consistent progress without becoming overwhelming.
How long does a psychological or neuropsychological assessment take?
Assessment duration varies by evaluation type, but most are completed within 1 to 2 weeks. This includes the intake session, in-person testing, scoring and interpretation, and a follow-up feedback appointment with detailed recommendations.
Can I request an assessment for a specific diagnosis like ADHD?
Yes. We provide targeted assessments when clients are seeking clarification regarding conditions such as ADHD or learning disorders. While we do not offer autism evaluations, we can assess a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral concerns and deliver comprehensive diagnostic reports.
How are the different types of evaluations at Crestpoint Psych Services unique?
Each evaluation we offer is designed with a specific purpose in mind. Psychological evaluations focus on identifying mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or mood disorders and are often used to clarify diagnoses for therapy, treatment planning, or accommodations.
Neuropsychological evaluations go a step further by assessing how the brain is functioning. These are ideal for individuals experiencing concerns related to memory, attention, executive functioning, or cognitive decline. This type of evaluation is often helpful after brain injuries, strokes, or for suspected neurocognitive conditions.
Adaptive functioning evaluations assess everyday life skills—such as communication, social behavior, and self-care—to determine how a person navigates their environment. These are often required to support eligibility for community-based services or long-term support planning.
Learning disorder evaluations are specifically designed to uncover academic challenges, including reading, writing, or math difficulties. These assessments can identify learning disabilities and are commonly used in educational or workplace settings to support accommodations.
What if there’s bad weather and I can’t make my appointment—or the office needs to close?
If severe weather makes it unsafe for you to attend your appointment, just let us know as soon as you can. We completely understand that safety comes first. Likewise, if weather conditions prevent your provider from being in the office, we’ll reach out to notify you of the cancellation. In either case, we’ll follow up within 1–2 business days to find a new time that works for you.
What is your cancellation and no-show policy?
To provide the highest level of care and maintain availability for all clients, we require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without notification will be considered a no-show.
If a client is more than 30 minutes late, the appointment may be canceled and documented as a no-show. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows (two or more instances) may result in a pause or discontinuation of services at the discretion of the clinician.
What is your billing policy?
Crestpoint Psych Services is a private-pay practice and does not accept or bill insurance directly. Payment is due in full at the time of service for all therapy and assessment appointments. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and Health Savings Account (HSA) cards.
Although we do not work directly with insurance companies, we can provide you with a detailed receipt (commonly referred to as a superbill) that includes service codes, diagnoses, and other information your insurance provider may require for out-of-network reimbursement. We encourage you to contact your insurance carrier in advance to verify whether you have out-of-network mental health benefits, and to ask about deductibles, coverage percentages, and documentation requirements.
If you are seeking reimbursement, you are responsible for submitting claims to your insurance company. Please keep in mind that reimbursement is not guaranteed, and any questions regarding coverage or claim status should be directed to your insurance provider.
Clients undergoing psychological or neuropsychological evaluations will receive a breakdown of testing fees prior to the start of services. Testing fees reflect time spent on all components of the evaluation process, including intake, administration, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and feedback.
We are committed to transparency and will discuss all fees and service expectations with you before any appointments are scheduled.
